Above a certain size, companies in Germany are legally required to employ a company physician.

 

The role of a company phisician among other things is to

 

• provide advice and support in the preparation or revision of legally required risk assessments of work places
• provide advice on the organization of first aid in the company
• carry out statutory examinations such as preventive medical check-ups, aptitude tests (if legally required) or shift fitness examinations in accordance with the ArbZG
• provide on-site consultations, e.g. vaccination campaigns or travel medicine consultations
• provide advice and support in the design of ergonomic workstations, work processes and the working environment
• provide advice for employers and employees regarding the Maternity Protection Act
• assist in disability management such as advice on the gradual reintegration of chronically-ill employees or support with rehabilitation measures
